Bearded Dragons eat a large variety of

live insects, fruits, and vegetables.

Young hatchlings

When a bearded dragon is young, it will need to eat more insects than vegetables because it's still growing.

  • You should have fresh greens available daily. (bok choy greens is  favorite of hatchlings)
  • Feed small crickets/roaches to your young Bearded Dragons 1-2 times per day. (dust in calcium powder)
  • Give your young Bearded Dragon as much live food as they can eat within a 3 minute time period. Then, remove the remaining insects from the tank.
  • The cricket should always be smaller then your Bearded Dragons head.
  • Do not overfeed your young Bearded Dragon.
  • After 2 months old, start to introduce fruits, veggies, and pellets.

Adult Bearded Dragons

Adult Bearded Dragons do not need to eat as many insects as younger dragons, and overfeeding your dragon can cause him/her to become overweight or cause other serious side effects and even death.

  • Provide fresh fruits/vegetables in their dish at all times.
  • Adults only need to eat insects a few days a week, give as many insects as they can eat within a 5 minute time frame and then remove the remaining crickets from their tank.
  • Worms may be left in the dish if they can not get out of the dish.
  • An adult Bearded Dragon may also eat Fortified pellets.
